Four OS upgrades and five years of security patches from its September 2024 release, so support runs to September 2029 — around three years from now. Honor moved to a seven-year policy with the Magic 7 series shortly afterwards, so the V3 sits just on the wrong side of that change.

IPX8 certifies immersion resistance in fresh water but says nothing about particle ingress — and grit in the hinge is the most common way foldables fail. This is a real consideration for a phone you plan to keep, and it is why Google's fully dust-tight IP68 Pixel 10 Pro Fold was a notable milestone.

Yes. Folding phones have very little internal depth for camera modules, so most compromise heavily on telephoto — Samsung's Z Fold7 manages 3x with a 10MP sensor. The Magic V3 fits a 50MP periscope at 3.5x, which gives it genuinely competitive zoom against conventional flagships rather than the usual foldable compromise.

It depends how long you keep phones. At $1,300, down from $1,700, the hardware is excellent. But three years of remaining patches on a foldable that will be hard to repair outside China is a real risk. A Galaxy Z Fold6 at around $1,150 gets you patches to July 2031 and a repair network — that is the safer purchase.
