Apple doesn't publish an end date, but iPhones have a consistent ~3-year update track record — on that basis the Spark Slim should be supported until around October 2028. Buying it today still gets you about 2.2 years of safe use, and Apple's written legal minimum is 5 years (verified July 2026).

TrueCost

Street price ÷ months of safe use remaining — the number that makes cheap short-lived phones expensive, and well-supported ones cheap.

$6.25/month

2% cheaper than the under-$300 median ($6.38/mo, dying phones excluded)

Is the Spark Slim worth buying in 2026?

With caution — only 26 months of updates are left ($6.25/month of safe use). Fine as a short-term or budget pick, risky as a long-term keeper.

Our verdict

The concept Tecno showed at MWC 2025 actually shipped: a 5.93mm curved-AMOLED phone with a 5160mAh battery, held back mainly by 4G-only radios and an estimated 2028 support cutoff.

Pros

  • 5.93mm and 156g, thinner than almost anything else with a curved screen
  • Helio G200 is the fastest chip Tecno puts in a Spark
  • 5160mAh with 45W charging despite the thickness
  • Single 8GB/256GB configuration removes the guesswork

Cons

  • 4G only in late 2025, which shortens its useful life
  • About two OS upgrades and three years of patches, ending near October 2028
  • IP64 only, so no submersion protection
Best for: Thin-and-light fansBest for: Media watchersAvoid if: You need 5GAvoid if: You keep phones past 2028

Frequently asked questions

Is the Spark Slim still supported?

Yes. It reached retail in October 2025 on Android 15 with HiOS 15 and is still inside Tecno's patch window. Based on the Spark line's record, security updates should continue to about October 2028.

How long will the Spark Slim get updates?

There is no model-specific promise. Spark devices generally see around two HiOS upgrades and three years of security patches, which puts Android 17 as the likely ceiling and end of support near October 2028.

Is the Spark Slim worth buying in 2026?

At about $165 with roughly two covered years left, it is a reasonable buy if you want the thinnest phone you can get for the money. The 4G-only modem is the real limitation, not the software window.

Was the Spark Slim a real product or just a concept?

Both. Tecno first showed it as a 5.75mm concept at MWC 2025, then shipped a production version at 5.93mm, announced at IFA in September 2025 and on sale from October 2025.
