At 8.9mm folded and 215g, the Fold7 finally stops feeling like a compromise you carry. An 8-inch inner screen, a 200MP main sensor and Snapdragon 8 Elite make it the most complete foldable Samsung has built — for a price approaching $2,000.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the Galaxy Z Fold7 be supported?

Until July 2032 — seven years of OS upgrades and seven years of security patches from its July 2025 release. At around $1,900 that is roughly $22.60 per month of supported use, which is high in absolute terms but not unreasonable given the seven-year window.

How much thinner is the Fold7 than the Fold6?

Substantially. The Fold7 measures 8.9mm folded against the Fold6's 12.1mm, and drops from 239g to 215g. In the hand and the pocket this is the difference between a foldable that feels like a compromise and one that does not. The inner screen also grows from 7.6 to 8.0 inches with a wider ratio that makes desktop-style layouts genuinely usable.

Is the Fold7 camera as good as the S25 Ultra?

Much closer than before. The Fold7 uses a 200MP main sensor matching the Ultra, alongside a 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP 3x telephoto. The Ultra still wins on zoom thanks to its periscope lens, but for main-camera photography the historic gap between Samsung's foldables and its flagship slabs has largely closed with this generation.

Is a foldable a sensible seven-year phone?

Software-wise yes, mechanically it is the open question. Samsung rates the hinge for around 200,000 folds and the inner screen uses a plastic-topped laminate that is softer than glass and can crease or fail. Seven years of patches is only useful if the hardware lasts, so budget for the possibility of a screen or hinge repair somewhere in years four to six.
