The Flip7's 4.1-inch cover screen finally makes a clamshell useful while closed, and the bigger 6.9-inch inner display and 4,300mAh battery fix the two long-standing Flip complaints. The Exynos 2500 and 25W charging are what a $1,000 folding phone still costs you.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the Galaxy Z Flip7 be supported?

Until July 2032 — seven years of OS upgrades and seven years of security patches from its July 2025 release. Foldables have historically been questionable long-term buys because of hinge and screen wear, but on software at least the Flip7 gets exactly the same commitment as the S25 flagships.

Why did Samsung switch the Z Flip7 to Exynos?

Samsung has not published its reasoning, but the Exynos 2500 is its own silicon and the Flip line's thermal envelope is tight — a clamshell has very little room to dissipate heat. In practice the Exynos 2500 is fast for everyday use, but it throttles sooner than a Snapdragon 8 Elite under sustained load, so long gaming sessions and heavy video work are where you will notice.

Is the Z Flip7 water resistant?

It carries IP48: fully protected against immersion in fresh water, but the '4' means it only resists solid objects larger than 1mm — it is not dust-tight. That is a structural consequence of the hinge. Beaches, sandpits and workshops remain the real hazard for any foldable, far more than rain.

How much better is the Flip7 cover screen than the Flip6?

Meaningfully. The FlexWindow grows to 4.1 inches with dramatically thinner bezels, which means more apps are genuinely usable without opening the phone — replying to messages, navigation, media controls and camera previews all work well closed. It is the single biggest practical improvement in this generation, and the reason to choose a Flip7 over a discounted Flip6.
