That means it is entirely safe to use for banking, payments and email today, and will remain so for around two more years. Very few phones sold at $199 in 2023 are still receiving patches in 2026 — most competing budget Androids of that generation stopped one to two years ago.

The Android upgrades run out first, taking it from the Android 14 it shipped with to Android 18; the security patches continue to the full five-year mark. The patch date is the one to plan around, because that is what determines whether the phone stays safe to use.

It was released in December 2023, so as of late 2026 it is coming up on three years old. That is well past the point where most budget phones stop mattering, but the A15 is unusual: with support running to December 2028, a three-year-old A15 still has roughly two years of security cover ahead of it — a longer remaining window than many phones released this year.

It is one of the better used-phone buys available, at around $120 with roughly two years of patches remaining. The caveats are performance and protection: the Dimensity 6100+ is genuinely slow for 2026 and there is no IP rating, so it is not a phone for demanding users or wet environments. As a cheap, safe, well-supported device for light use, it is very hard to beat.
